You may choose Casa Porvenir simply as a place of rest and relaxation and for its natural beauty, tranquility and agreeable climate. You may opt to while away the time just looking out to sea where, along the shore line, local fishermen cast nets or dive for lobsters, or, further out, whales breach and dolphin glide across the surface.
In the immediate vicinity of Casa Porvenir there is sunbathing, swimming, boogie boarding, deep sea fishing, hiking, bird watching, cave exploration, and nooks and crannies for meditation and yoga. You may also want to luxuriate with a massage or a pedicure.
The beach is perfect for long runs or walks.
Snorkeling and searching for shells is popular and a fun activity for children and adults of all ages.
Weddings and festivities can be planned on the beach. A very romantic and special place.
Build rock sculptures.
The shoreline directly in front of Casa Porvenir features lava rock outcroppings and tide pools ideal for the curious beachcomber.

To the left 100 yards is a one-half mile stretch of sandy beach. Beyond the sandy beach is a point, jutting out into the Pacific, defining the southern boundary of Manzanillo Bay, with coral reefs on its right shoulder. When the Pacific is relatively calm, snorkeling over the reefs reveals a wide array of colorful sea life. On the leeward side of the point there is good to excellent surfing much of the year. This relatively small surfing area is not for beginners. Surfing conditions ideal for beginners may be found three-fourths of a mile north of Casa Porvenir beyond the village of Majahua or, by vehicle, thirty minutes to the north at Saladita or The Ranch. While suitable for beginners, these venues are sought out by surfing aficionados who track the internet for the best places to surf.
Leaving Manzanillo Bay, and around the point to the south, there is a two mile stretch of relatively solitary shoreline with beaches, rock formations, and tide pools.
Immediately to the north of Casa Porvenir, passing by coves, beaches and rock formations, is the small fishing village of Majahua where people, pigs and dogs wander at their tropical leisure.
Beyond Majahua the shoreline stretches for miles, interrupted only by an occasional structure, and common and somewhat exotic sea birds, such as the whimbrel.
For those with the time and inclination there are same day or overnight trips to the nearby charming colonial cities of Morelia and Patzcuaro. A trek of three and one-half hours by car or bus to the northeast of Troncones takes you to these lovely mountain valley towns with their enchanting colonial architecture, indigenous arts and crafts and cobblestone streets.
